I used to be a scalper in forex, but after a while, I realized the spread was just too large to be profitable. Even now with the spreads among brokers are reducing, it's still not profitable enough. Also, having done some automated trading system testing and analysis, I haven't found a profitable scalping system. Swing trading, yes, is a better option as the commissions and slippages are not so high that would take away all the potential profits.

Scalping is trading for 10-15 pips or less, this is a very small pips to do this in a high win/loss rate. Higher than 30 is decent but still decent. Higher than 50 is best but remember, nothing is static and written in stone. It's just a guideline in defining scalping and other types of trading.
